Wild Coast Scuba Adventure
A fully guided small-group scuba day from Halifax — two Atlantic dive sites, full equipment provided, and a shoreside picnic lunch. Open Water certification required.
If you’ve only ever dived in warm water, you don’t yet know what diving feels like when the ocean is serious.
Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coast is cold, current-driven, and genuinely wild. The underwater geography is rugged and varied — rocky ledges, kelp forests, surge channels shaped by tidal forces that move more water than almost anywhere on earth. The marine life isn’t colourful and tropical; it’s lobster picking their way across the bottom, groundfish holding position in the current, crabs working the rocks, and schools of mackerel moving through the water column above you. This is North Atlantic diving — a different discipline, a different reward, and an experience that serious divers travel specifically to have.
Your Great Earth Expeditions guide is a certified divemaster, in the water with your group throughout both dives. Equipment is provided through Torpedo Rays, Nova Scotia’s longest-established dive operation. Every detail of the day is fully handled — from Halifax pickup to drop-off, including a shoreside picnic lunch between dives.
Open Water certification or higher is required. This adventure is for divers, not beginners.

Two Atlantic Dive Sites
The day includes two guided shore dives at coastal sites near Halifax, selected based on conditions, visibility, and the best overall experience available that day. All dives are entered directly from shore — no boat transfer required. Dive sites along this stretch of coastline offer varied underwater terrain — rocky drop-offs, current-swept ledges, and dense kelp beds that give way to open bottom where lobster, crab, groundfish, and mackerel are a reliable presence. Your divemaster will brief each site before entry, lead the dive, and debrief with the group afterward.
Nova Scotia’s tidal currents are part of the experience, not an obstacle to it. Dives are planned around the tide schedule to make the most of the conditions rather than avoid them.
Between Dives: Shoreside Picnic Lunch
The surface interval is built around a proper lunch, not a granola bar on a tailgate. A locally sourced picnic lunch and snacks are served shoreside between dives — a genuine pause to eat well, surface debrief, and let the morning’s dive settle before the afternoon entry.
Equipment
Full kit is provided for every guest: tanks, wetsuit or drysuit (for drysuit-certified guests), BCD, regulator, and weights — sourced and maintained through Torpedo Rays. These are shore dives; no boat transfer required. If you have personal gear you prefer to dive with, you’re welcome to bring it.
A note on site selection
Dive sites are selected each morning based on ocean conditions, visibility, swell, and tide. The North Atlantic is a dynamic environment and site selection is always made with safety and experience quality as the priority. Your divemaster makes the final call on the day.
