Expanding Our Horizons: Exploring Ecotourism Opportunities Outside Canada
It has been almost ten years since we started offering ecotourism-oriented Nova Scotia vacations. And what a momentous journey it has been! Over the years, we have helped thousands of tourists from across the world appreciate nature’s bounty in this beautiful province of ours. We’ve also done our bit to conserve the ecosystem by educating visitors about their environmental responsibility.
It is now time to set forth on a journey exploring wild habitats outside Canada. We are currently working with our industry partners across the globe and planning to introduce all inclusive eco – tour packages in Scotland, Iceland, Peru and Costa Rica. We’ll stay true to our core principles, i.e. taking clients to lesser traveled regions, helping them reconnect with Mother Nature and understand the local culture. Some of the aspects that we’ll be covering in these countries include:
• Scotland:
Scotland is one of the greenest countries in the world. From the borders to the highlands, there are over 26 different routes in Scotland. The average length of these trails is 25 miles with the longest being 212 miles in length. Most of these are family friendly and perfect for a family vacation. As for cultural influences, Scotland is more than bagpipes, haggis, and kilts – it’s a land which gave us spirits, goblins, elves, and fairies. And of course, the Loch Ness monster!
• Iceland:
Iceland is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. It is a land of geysers, hot water springs, glacial rivers, and colorful mountains. It is from here that the spectacular Northern Lights are best seen. Iceland is home to more than a dozen long distance trails. Some of the famous ones include the Laugavegur Trek, Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail, Hornstrandir, and the three National Parks in Iceland. As for the cuisine, how can you visit Iceland and not sample some hakarl or a fine piece of slatur?
• Peru:
Ranging from the snow-capped Andes Mountains to the warm tropical climes of the south and the dry coastal deserts; Peru is one of the most diverse countries in the world. From the world famous Inca Trail (ending at the equally famous Machu Pichu) to the Salkantay and the Lares trails, Peru has several trails that offer plenty of excitement for the adventure seeker in you. On the cuisine front, you cannot leave the country without sampling a few dozen of Peru’s 4000 unusual varieties of potatoes.
• Costa Rica:
Costa Rica has plenty to offer adventure travelers. More than 30% of the country is earmarked for national parks, wildlife refuge, and preserves. Tourists can hike through rainforests and along waterfalls and raft rushing rivers. Some of the popular trails include the Santa Juanta mountain hike, Santa Rosa National Park trail, the Bajos de Toro Waterfall trek, and the Manuel Antonio National Park trail. Costa Ricans believe in the phrase “pura vida” or pure life. They are one of the friendliest people on the planet.
We look forward to another ten years in business and thank you for such a joyous ride. So get your passport ready and let’s explore our beautiful diverse world together as we cross borders and expand our horizons!
